Joel Phillips was raised in Idaho, spending part of his youth in Boise and part in Pocatello. After graduating from Idaho State University with a B.S. in Economics and an MBA, Joel joined Sanctuary in 2008.
Joel is currently a Partner at Sanctuary and serves as the Vice President of Operations. He is directly responsible for the day-to-day operational aspects of the firm—trading, workflows, reporting, billing, etc. Additionally, Joel serves about 70 of the firm’s client families. He is directly involved in the day-to-day financial planning, portfolio management, and wealth management aspects of those families.
Joel works with many of our clients during the middle part of their careers. Many of these clients have built successful businesses and spend a majority of their time focused on expanding their operations. Joel’s job is to help them manage the trade-offs between reinvesting money back into their business and reinvesting their money back into themselves.
Outside of work, Joel and his wife chase their kids full-time. During the summer, you’ll find Joel competing in his race car on the weekends, while during the winter, you’ll find him piloting a replica Boeing 737 flight simulator he hand-built in his basement.
